Skoda has drawn back the covers on the vRS version of its latest Kodiaq SUV.
The sporty model of the big seven-seater will have 265PS from a petrol engine, with four-wheel drive. It should give customers a more dynamic driving experience than the regular Skoda Kodiaq, but keep the same levels of practicality. Think of it as a Volkswagen GTI... but bigger.
The new car has 20PS more than the previous Skoda Kodiaq vRS, and sends its power to all four wheels through a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.
Once on sale, the new Skoda Kodiaq vRS will bring some extra sporty spice to the seven-seat SUV market, making it stand out against cars like the Volkswagen Tayron, Kia Sorento and Hyundai Santa Fe.
New 2025 Skoda Kodiaq vRS: price and release date
No information about the price of the Skoda Kodiaq vRS has yet been released – we'll hear more closer to its 2024 release, but as the outgoing model tipped the cost scales at £46,000, we'd expect the new one to be closer to £50,000.
New 2025 Skoda Kodiaq vRS: exterior and interior
In a time-honoured formula, Skoda has taken the standard Kodiaq and sportified it for the vRS model. That means gloss black elements on the outside, most notably on the grille, which also has a horizontal light strip for extra pizzazz. Big 20-inch black alloy wheels are included as standard, and there's a beefier set of bumpers and side skirts, with matrix LED headlights as standard.
There's also lower suspension than standard, with adaptive dampers for more control over the ride and handling. Drivers can choose between 15 different suspension settings.
Inside there's microsued trim on the dash and doors, a sporty three-spokle steering wheel and some stainless-steel pedal covers. The sports seats are upholstered in microsued and synthetic leather, although leather is available as an option.
The infotainment setup is comparable to the top-end of the standard Kodiaq range, with a Virtual Cockpit driver's display and a 13-inch touchscreen in the centre. A Canton sound system is included as standard.
New 2025 Skoda Kodiaq vRS: engine and gearbox
The Skoda Kodiaq vRS has a permanent four-wheel-drive system, with power sent from a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, four-cylinder petrol engine. It makes 265PS and goes through a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission. All together, the powertrain lets the Kodiaq vRS accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds.
