The Aston Martin DBX sits in among a rare breed of super-premium hypercar SUVs. That means it promises plenty of comfort and space while still delivering some of the best handling and performance you can get from an SUV.

This launched in 2020 as the first SUV made by the brand that is favoured by James Bond himself. It sits on the line between full and mid-sized but will comfortably seat five. It's worth noting that the 2022 model was the first to be equipped with Aston Martin's all-wheel drive system that uses an active centre differential and electronic rear differential.

The DBX 707 variant is one of the fastest SUV cars you can buy with a top speed of 193 MPH and some of the best handling to go with that. While the infotainment system is a little dated and the interior doesn't live up to the price, the handling and power make up for that.

Of course you will pay for that power with a mind boggling 8 MPG when going at top speed from the standard 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 that gives 505 BHP.

While the rear seats won't offer much room for larger riders, this does pack in five seats and plenty of safety kit as standard.

The Aston Martin DBX comes with the same 4.0-litre petrol engine in both trims – although the Chinese model has a 3.0-litre engine. In either case you can expect automatic gearing and four-wheel plus all-wheel drive as standard on this front-engine SUV.

The 550 variant comes with an engine tuned to kick out 550 BHP which is delivered intelligently to all four wheels via the 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. All that should equate to a 0-62 MPH time of 4.5 seconds for a top speed of 181 MPH.

Move up to the more finely tuned 707 variant and that 4.0-litre V8 kicks out an impressive 707 BHP through those 32 valves. That should mean a 0-62 MPH time of just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 193 MPH.

Aston Martin DBX 4.0-litre petrol 505: This 9-speed setup will give you a 4.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V8 that offers 505 BHP equating to a 0-62 MPH time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 181 MPH. That should mean you get about 14 MPG in the city and 18 MPG on motorways. Expect a 323g/kg CO2 emissions level.
Aston Martin DBX 4.0-litre petrol 707: The top-end version takes that 4.0-litre V8 and gets it to output 707 BHP for a 0-62 MPH time of 3.3 seconds, topping out at 193 MPH. Expect this to get you about 12 MPG in the city and 18 MPG on bigger roads. Expect more than a 323g/kg CO2 emissions level.
